Produced in the heart of Grande Champagne, the premier cru of the Cognac region in France, Daniel Bouju's XO exemplifies the area's reputation for crafting exceptional cognacs. The chalky soils and favourable climate of this region contribute to the finesse and complexity that Grande Champagne Cognacs are renowned for.

This Cognac is distilled exclusively from Ugni Blanc grapes, a variety celebrated for its high acidity and suitability for producing quality cognacs. The XO designation indicates an 'Extra Old' style, with the youngest spirit in the blend aged for a minimum of 25 years, resulting in a rich and mature profile.

Employing traditional Charentais copper pot stills, the distillation process captures the delicate nuances of the Ugni Blanc grape. The eaux-de-vie are initially aged in new Limousin oak barrels, which impart robust tannins and structure. Subsequent maturation in older casks allows the Cognac to develop its distinctive character over decades, achieving a harmonious balance of flavours.

The amber hue of this XO Cognac is a prelude to its aromatic complexity. On the nose, it reveals an inviting bouquet of nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, vanilla, and prunes. The palate is greeted with a supple and elegant texture, where these aromas translate into rich flavours, culminating in a remarkable length and a finish that introduces subtle notes of leather and cigar box.

To fully appreciate its intricate profile, enjoy this Cognac neat at room temperature in a tulip-shaped glass, which concentrates its aromas. It serves as an excellent digestif and pairs wonderfully with fine cigars or dark chocolate desserts.
