Arras Tasmania Grand Vintage 2015

This wine is crafted from grapes grown in Tasmania, Australia's premier cool-climate wine region. The fruit is sourced from multiple subregions, including the East Coast, Derwent Valley, Coal River Valley, and Pipers River. Tasmania's unique maritime climate, with its cool temperatures and long growing seasons, is ideal for sparkling wine production. The island's diverse terroirs contribute to the wine's balance, complexity, and refined acidity.

Arras Grand Vintage 2015 is a blend of 67% Chardonnay and 33% Pinot Noir, showcasing the classic style of traditional method sparkling wines. Chardonnay lends finesse, elegance, and acidity, while Pinot Noir adds structure, depth, and red fruit character. This sparkling wine is aged extensively, delivering an opulent and layered expression of Tasmanian terroir.

The fruit is hand-picked and gently pressed to select only the finest quality juice for fermentation. Approximately 10% of the base wine undergoes fermentation in new French oak barriques to enhance complexity. The wine also completes 100% malolactic fermentation, softening acidity and contributing to its creamy texture. Following the blend, the wine spends seven years on on lees to develop depth, richness, and secondary savoury flavours.

The 2015 vintage opens with aromas of desiccated pear, peach, and jasmine flower, complemented by savoury notes of fresh pastry, honey, and a touch of miso. On the palate, it is vibrant and exotic, showcasing flavours of grapefruit, biscuit, and honeycomb. The low dosage balances the wine's tension and acidity, resulting in a fresh, vibrant finish with remarkable persistence.

This sparkling wine pairs wonderfully with oysters, lobster bisque, and other shellfish dishes. It also complements rich dishes such as duck confit, truffle-infused pasta, or roast chicken with herbs. For a unique pairing, try it with mild cheeses or desserts featuring honey or citrus elements. Serve chilled at 8–10°C.
