Domaine Auchere Sancerre 2023
This wine is from the Sancerre AOC in the Loire Valley, an iconic region for Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyards, located on limestone and clay soils, benefit from a temperate climate that contributes to the vibrant acidity and aromatic intensity of the wines. Known for its minerality and finesse, Sancerre produces some of the most sought-after white wines in the world.
The wine is made exclusively from Sauvignon Blanc grapes, showcasing the hallmark style of Sancerre: crisp, aromatic, and mineral-driven. Domaine Auchere focuses on crafting wines that reflect the purity and character of the terroir. The vinification process is traditional, using stainless steel vats to preserve the fresh fruit flavours. Horizontal pneumatic pressing ensures gentle extraction of juice, which is transferred into vats by gravity. After settling for 24–36 hours, fermentation begins. Only alcoholic fermentation is performed to retain the wine’s aromatic precision. The wine is aged on its fine lees until January, followed by clarification and a light filtration before bottling.
Domaine Auchere Sancerre 2023 has a pale lime-green hue and a pronounced nose of citrus fruits, lychee, grapefruit, and peach. On the palate, it is round and powerful, with vibrant acidity and a mineral backbone. The wine offers a pleasant, lengthy finish with zesty and refreshing notes.
This Sancerre is an excellent match for seafood, such as oysters, crustaceans, and grilled fish. It pairs beautifully with the local Crottin de Chavignol goat cheese and also works well as an aperitif. Serve chilled at 8–10°C.
