Domaine Bitouzet Prieur Meursault Charmes 1er Cru 2021
The Domaine Bitouzet-Prieur Meursault Charmes 1er Cru comes from the Meursault region of Burgundy, France, an area renowned for its exceptional Chardonnay wines. The Charmes vineyard, a prime Premier Cru site, is situated on the lower slopes of the Cote d'Or, where the pebbly limestone soils, combined with a unique microclimate, contribute to the wine's elegance and complexity. This wine is crafted from a small parcel of vines planted in 1944 and 1987, producing concentrated, aromatic wines with a refined profile.
The grapes were carefully harvested and vinified with minimal intervention to express the terroir's purity. The wine is aged in French oak barrels, with no new oak used, allowing the wine's natural characteristics to shine through. The aging process is focused on preserving its freshness and ensuring a balanced, harmonious structure.
Pale lemon in colour, the wine offers an expressive bouquet of citrus, honeyed notes, and subtle buttery aromas. On the palate, it is clean and pure, balanced by vibrant acidity. Flavours of lime, pear, and almond are complemented by a soft, mineral finish, characteristic of the Meursault terroir.
This Meursault Charmes pairs well with seafood, particularly smoked haddock soup, turbot, or grilled prawns. It also complements rich dishes like creamy chicken or Gruyere cheese.
