Château Clarisse Puisseguin Saint-Émilion comes from the Puisseguin Saint-Émilion appellation, a Right Bank satellite of Saint-Émilion in Bordeaux. This region shares many similarities with its prestigious neighbour, producing Merlot-driven wines. The terroir, characterised by clay-limestone soils, provides excellent drainage and supports slow, even ripening, allowing for wines that balance fruit, freshness, and longevity.
This classic Right Bank blend consists of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, two grape varieties that define the identity of Saint-Émilion wines. Merlot brings rich red fruit notes and a velvety texture, while Cabernet Franc adds structure, freshness, and spiciness. The result is a smooth and powerful wine, offering both early drinkability and ageing potential.
The winemaking process at Château Clarisse is focused on preserving purity and balance. The grapes are carefully harvested and fermented in temperature-controlled tanks to extract colour, flavour, and tannins. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation to soften acidity and enhance its silky texture. Ageing in oak barrels imparts additional depth, subtle spice, and a refined structure, making it both approachable in its youth and capable of cellaring.
Château Clarisse Puisseguin Saint-Émilion 2019 presents aromas of ripe plum, cherry compote, and red berries, complemented by hints of cedar, bramble, and delicate spice. The palate is round and fresh, with supple yet firm tannins. The finish is long and balanced, showcasing both fruit purity and subtle oak influence, making it a refined and well-integrated expression of its terroir.
This red wine pairs beautifully with classic Bordeaux cuisine, including grilled red meats, duck, venison, and mushroom-based dishes. It also complements hard cheeses like Comté or aged Gouda. Enjoy now or cellar for up to eight years to allow further complexity to develop. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for 30–45 minutes before serving.
