The Famille Lieubeau Clisson Muscadet Sevre et Maine is a white wine from the Loire Valley, specifically the Clisson cru within the Muscadet Sevre et Maine appellation. This region is celebrated for its granite-based soils, which impart the wine with distinct minerality and depth. The Melon de Bourgogne grape thrives here, producing wines with crisp acidity and rich texture.
The wine is made from 50-year-old vines grown organically and harvested manually. Vinification involves whole-bunch pressing, natural fermentation with indigenous yeasts, and 24 months of aging on lees in underground vats. This extended lees aging contributes to its creamy texture and complexity.
Bright golden in colour, the wine offers aromas of candied citrus, dried apricot, and sweet spices, along with mineral and smoky undertones. The palate is full-bodied and smooth, with a well-balanced structure and a lingering honeyed finish.
This wine pairs beautifully with grilled fish, white meats, and shellfish, as well as exotic dishes like lightly spiced curries. It’s also a great companion for soft, creamy cheeses.
