Conti Costanti Brunello Di Montalcino 2018
The Conti Costanti Brunello di Montalcino is a classic Tuscan red wine from the prestigious Brunello di Montalcino DOCG appellation. The estate, located just outside the town of Montalcino, features Sangiovese vines planted on galestro soil at altitudes of 310–440 meters. These east and southeast-facing vineyards are ideal for producing wines with elegance and balance.
The 2018 vintage faced challenges due to heavy spring rains and summer humidity, requiring meticulous canopy management to ensure healthy grapes. Harvest occurred in late September, yielding fruit with concentrated flavours and vibrant acidity. After fermentation on skins for two weeks in stainless steel, the wine was aged for 36 months in oak: 12 months in medium-toasted Allier tonneaux and 24 months in large Slavonian barrels. It was further refined with 12 months of bottle aging before release.
This bright ruby-red wine offers aromas of morello cherry, cinnamon, and spice, with a savoury note. On the palate, it is elegant and balanced, with concentrated red berry fruit, silky tannins, and hints of liquorice on the long, refined finish.
Perfect with roast lamb, beef ragu, or wild boar stew. It also complements aged Pecorino or other hard cheeses.
