The Cordero con Piel de Lobo Malbec is produced by Mosquita Muerta Wines, a renowned boutique winery in Mendoza, Argentina. Situated at the foothills of the Andes Mountains, Mendoza is celebrated for its high-altitude vineyards, which produce intensely flavoured and well-structured Malbecs. The region's warm days and cool nights help maintain the grape's natural acidity, resulting in wines with vibrant fruit and balanced freshness.
This 100% Malbec is crafted in a style that emphasises fruit purity, freshness, and elegance. The wine has an intense purple hue, characteristic of young Mendoza Malbecs, and showcases a rich yet approachable structure. It is medium-bodied, offering a balanced expression of fruit, acidity, and tannins that makes it an easy-drinking yet refined example of the varietal.
Mosquita Muerta employs natural fermentation in concrete tanks at low temperatures, using wild yeasts from the vineyard to preserve the grape's authentic character. Gentle extraction techniques ensure a soft tannic structure while maintaining the wine's fruit-forward profile. The wine is aged in old French oak barrels for 6 months, adding subtle complexity while keeping the emphasis on fresh fruit and vibrant acidity.
This wine is fruit-driven and expressive, with aromas of black cherry, bramble berries, and mulberry, complemented by hints of spice, chocolate, and tobacco leaf. On the palate, it is fresh and lively, with bright acidity, soft tannins, and a lingering, smooth finish. Its clean, well-integrated structure makes it easy to enjoy on its own or with food.
This red wine pairs beautifully with grilled meats, roasted game, and stuffed pasta dishes. Its balanced acidity and medium structure also complement hearty stews and well-seasoned vegetable dishes. Serve at 16–18°C and decant for 30 minutes before drinking.
