El Chocolatero Vino Organico comes from the Carinena Denomination of Origin (DO) in Aragon, Spain. Established in 1932, Carinena is one of Spain's oldest wine regions, known for its rugged terrain, stony soils, and extreme continental climate. The combination of high-altitude vineyards and the cooling Cierzo wind helps produce wines with excellent structure, freshness, and intensity.
This red blend consists of Garnacha, Syrah, Tempranillo, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Garnacha brings ripe red fruit, Syrah adds spice and depth, Tempranillo provides structure and elegance, while Cabernet Sauvignon contributes complexity and firm tannins. The result is a well-balanced, medium to full-bodied wine with a harmonious blend of fruit and spice.
The vines, averaging 20 years in age, are grown on calcareous, stony soils at elevations between 400 and 600 metres. The dry, continental climate, combined with significant temperature variations, promotes slow and even ripening. The grapes are harvested at peak maturity, fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness, and undergo gentle aging to maintain their vibrant fruit character.
The 2022 vintage has a deep ruby-red colour. The nose is expressive, with aromas of blackcurrant, raspberry, and blueberry, complemented by hints of sweet spices and wild herbs. The palate is smooth and well-balanced, offering juicy red fruit, soft tannins, and a touch of spice. Its fresh acidity ensures vibrancy, leading to a lingering and elegant finish.
This red wine pairs beautifully with grilled meats such as duck breast and lamb chops. It also complements rich stews, spicy dishes, and Mediterranean cuisine. For a vegetarian option, try it with roasted vegetables, mushroom risotto, or aged cheeses.
