Finca El Manzano Elodia 2021
This wine comes from the El Manzano Estate in Los Arboles, San Carlos, situated in the Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina. Known for its high-altitude vineyards, the Uco Valley produces some of Argentina's most refined and terroir-driven wines. The region's well-drained soils, composed of alluvial deposits with sand, silt, and gravel, coupled with a significant diurnal temperature range, allow for optimal grape ripening, preserving freshness and concentration in the wines.
Elodia is made exclusively from Malbec grapes, showcasing the bold and structured character typical of the variety in this region. The wine emphasises ripe fruit flavours with a refined minerality and subtle spice, reflecting the complexity of its high-altitude vineyard site.
The grapes are hand-harvested during the second week of April. Fermentation takes place in concrete eggs at controlled temperatures of 25°C, preceded by a cold maceration of 3–4 days. Post-fermentation maceration lasts for 10–15 days to enhance colour and tannin integration. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation, followed by 12 months of ageing in concrete eggs and an additional 12 months of bottle ageing before release.
Finca El Manzano Elodia Malbec presents a deep red colour with purple hues. On the nose, it offers aromas of red berries, such as cherries and raspberries, complemented by notes of spices and subtle floral hints. The palate is rich and layered, with intense fruit flavours, smooth tannins, and a long, elegant finish.
This wine pairs beautifully with grilled beef, venison, or BBQ ribs. It also complements roasted vegetables and mature cheeses, making it suitable for a range of hearty dishes. Serve at 16–18°C.
