Château Fonrazade is a wine estate located in the prestigious Saint-Émilion appellation of Bordeaux, on the right bank of the Dordogne River. The region's diverse soils and favourable climate contribute to the production of complex and age-worthy wines.
The 2019 Château Fonrazade Saint Emilion Grand Cru is composed of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. This blend typically results in a wine that is both elegant and robust, showcasing the plushness of Merlot complemented by the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon.
The vineyards of the estate span 13 hectares, with vines averaging 35 years of age. The grapes are hand-harvested to ensure optimal quality. Following fermentation, the wine is aged in oak barrels for 12 to 18 months, a process that imparts additional complexity and depth.
In the glass, the wine presents a shimmering crimson hue. The nose reveals fine fragrances of dark berries and mild spices, delicately woody. On the palate, it is full-bodied with enveloped tannins.
This red wine pairs exceptionally well with beef and venison, complementing the rich flavours of these meats.
