Gaja Ca' Marcanda Magari 2019 hails from Bolgheri, a prestigious wine-producing area on the Tuscan coast of Italy. This region is celebrated for its "Super Tuscan" wines, which often feature Bordeaux grape varieties cultivated in the unique Mediterranean climate and alluvial soils, resulting in wines of remarkable depth and character.
This wine is a blend of 60% Cabernet Franc, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Petit Verdot. The dominance of Cabernet Franc imparts structure and aromatic complexity, while Cabernet Sauvignon adds depth and richness. Petit Verdot contributes colour and intensity, creating a harmonious and well-balanced wine that reflects the elegance and power typical of Bolgheri reds.
The grapes are meticulously harvested and undergo fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve their varietal purity. Following fermentation, the wine is aged in oak barrels, allowing it to develop complexity and integrate its flavours seamlessly. This careful vinification process ensures a wine of depth, balance, and ageing potential.
The 2019 Magari presents a deep ruby hue in the glass. The nose unfolds gradually, beginning with fresh red fruit aromas that evolve into ripe red fruits, complemented by notes of graphite, juniper, and liquorice. On the palate, it offers a sweet and prolonged experience, with flavours of mulberry and sour cherry. The fine-grained tannins are exceptionally silky, leading to a smooth finish.
This wine pairs excellently with roasted or grilled meats, such as lamb or beef, as well as hearty pasta dishes featuring rich tomato-based sauces. Additionally, it complements aged cheeses. Serving temperature 16-18°C.
