Gaja Dagromis hails from the Barolo DOCG in Piedmont, north-western Italy. This region is renowned for producing some of Italy's most prestigious red wines, particularly from the Nebbiolo grape. The wine is crafted from vineyards in La Morra and Serralunga d'Alba, two communes known for their contrasting expressions of Barolo—La Morra offering elegance and floral notes, while Serralunga contributes structure and depth.
Composed entirely of Nebbiolo, this Barolo embodies a harmonious blend of power and finesse. The 2020 vintage reflects a balanced structure, showcasing the grape's characteristic complexity and aging potential.
Grapes from each vineyard are fermented, macerated, and aged separately for 12 months in oak barrels. Subsequently, the wines are blended and matured for an additional 18 months in oak, allowing the distinct terroirs to integrate seamlessly.
The wine presents a garnet red hue with orange reflections. On the nose, it offers floral aromas of violet and rose petals, complemented by white pepper and hints of red fruits like cherry and raspberry. The palate is medium-bodied and well-balanced, featuring notes of red orange and grapefruit. Fine tannins and a pleasant freshness lead to a harmonious and persistent finish.
This red wine pairs excellently with grilled and roasted red meats, game dishes, and mature cheeses. Its structure and complexity also complement rich pasta dishes and stews.
