Gaja's Sito Moresco is a red blend from the Langhe region in Piedmont, Italy, an area renowned for producing some of Italy's most prestigious wines.
This wine is a unique blend of Nebbiolo, Barbera, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Nebbiolo imparts structure and aromatic complexity, Barbera adds vibrancy and acidity, while Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon contribute softness, depth, and elegance. The result is a medium-bodied wine that balances tradition with modern appeal.
Vinification involves fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by aging in barriques for 18 months, and at least six months of bottle aging, allowing the varietals to integrate and develop complexity.
It is of a brilliant ruby-red hue. On the nose, it offers an enticing bouquet of red and black fruits, such as cherry, plum, and blackcurrant, accented by hints of violet and sweet spices. On the palate, the wine is silky and balanced, with lively acidity, structured tannins, and a refined texture. The finish is long and nuanced, showcasing subtle notes of liquorice and tobacco.
This red wine pairs beautifully with roasted meats, grilled lamb, and pasta dishes featuring hearty tomato or mushroom-based sauces. It also complements mature cheeses. Serving temperature 16-18°C.
