Château L'Haur du Chay Tradition originates from the Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, situated on the right bank of the Gironde estuary in Bordeaux, France. This region is celebrated for its rolling hills and clay-limestone soils, which are particularly favourable for cultivating Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Wines from Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux are known for their approachability, offering rich fruit flavours and a balanced structure.
This wine is composed of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. The dominance of Merlot imparts softness and ripe red fruit characteristics, while the addition of Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure and subtle spice notes. The result is a harmonious blend that showcases the elegance and depth typical of the region.
The grapes are harvested mechanically to ensure optimal ripeness. Vinification is carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel and concrete vats, allowing for precise fermentation management. This method preserves the fresh fruit aromas and flavours, while the use of concrete vats contributes to the wine's rounded mouthfeel.
The wine displays a brilliant ruby hue. On the nose, it reveals aromas of small red fruits and spices. The palate is supple, supported by silky tannins, leading to a balanced and elegant finish.
This red wine pairs well with white meats and can also be enjoyed as an aperitif. Its balanced acidity and smooth tannins complement dishes such as roasted poultry, pork tenderloin, or creamy cheeses. Serving at a temperature of 16 to 18°C enhances its expressive character.
