Domaine Lafond Roc Epine Lirac White 2022
Lirac is one of the oldest wine regions in the Southern Rhone Valley, situated just across the Rhone River from Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Known for its diverse terroir of rocky, sandy, and clay-limestone soils, Lirac produces elegant wines that showcase a balance of richness and freshness. Domaine Lafond Roc Epine's vineyards benefit from a Mediterranean climate with warm temperatures and strong winds that enhance grape ripening and health.
This white Lirac is a blend of Grenache Blanc (50%), Roussanne (30%), and Viognier (20%) grapes, combining the freshness and structure of Grenache Blanc with the floral elegance of Roussanne and the aromatic richness of Viognier. The style is fresh, vibrant, and aromatic. The grapes are handpicked to ensure optimal quality and to preserve the integrity of the fruit. They undergo a skin maceration lasting 4 to 12 hours to extract aromas and texture. Fermentation is conducted at low temperatures to enhance freshness and aromatic intensity. The wine is bottled early, in January, to capture its youthful vitality and retain its lively character.
This Lirac Blanc offers a bouquet of lime-tree blossoms, white flowers, and zesty citrus, particularly lemon. On the palate, it is well-balanced, combining a fresh and lively acidity with subtle fruit and floral notes. The wine's vibrant character is complemented by a delicate minerality, providing a clean and refreshing finish.
Domaine Lafond Roc Epine Lirac White is an excellent companion for seafood, including oysters, grilled prawns, and scallops. It also pairs beautifully with light salads, goat cheese, and Mediterranean-inspired dishes such as lemon chicken or vegetable tarts. Serve chilled at 10–12°C.
