Laurent Perrachon's Morgon Corcelette 2022 comes from the Beaujolais region, specifically from the prestigious Morgon cru. This area, located in the northern part of Beaujolais, is known for producing some of the most complex and structured wines in the region, particularly from the Gamay grape. The Corcelette vineyard benefits from the warm climate, which allows the grapes to ripen fully, while the soil composition of granite and schist imparts a distinctive minerality to the wine.
This wine is made from Gamay, a grape variety known for its ability to produce wines with fresh red fruit flavours, bright acidity, and low tannin levels. Morgon wines, in particular, stand out for their richness and depth, which is further enhanced by the unique terroir of the Corcelette vineyard. The 2022 vintage presents a fruit-forward, medium-bodied wine with a balance of smooth tannins and a refreshing acidity.
The grapes for this wine are manually harvested and undergo a traditional vinification process. A portion of the grapes is destemmed, and the wine is fermented at controlled temperatures to preserve its fruit-driven aromas. After fermentation, the wine is aged in both stainless steel and oak, which adds complexity and structure. The result is a wine that balances traditional Beaujolais freshness with a subtle depth from oak ageing.
The 2022 Morgon Corcelette is characterised by vibrant aromas of ripe blackberries, red cherries, and a hint of earthy minerality. On the palate, it showcases bright red fruit flavours, complemented by soft tannins and a lingering finish. The wine is fresh, with a pleasant, juicy mouthfeel, and offers hints of floral notes.
This Morgon Corcelette is an excellent match for dishes such as grilled chicken, roasted vegetables, or a charcuterie platter. It also pairs well with classic Beaujolais dishes like pâté en croûte or a hearty stew.
