The Lenotti Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2018 originates from the Veneto region in northeastern Italy, specifically the classic Valpolicella area north of Verona. This region is renowned for its rich winemaking history and the production of Amarone, a prestigious red wine made from partially dried grapes.
This Amarone is crafted from a blend of 70% Corvina, 25% Rondinella, and 5% Oseleta grapes. The Corvina grape imparts aromas of cherry and almond, while Rondinella adds colour and body. Oseleta contributes depth and structure. The wine is dry, warm, full-bodied, and intense, with flavours and scents enhanced by extended ageing in wooden barrels.
The production process involves soft pressing of the dried grapes, followed by slow fermentation at controlled temperatures, which can last several months. The wine is then aged in oak wood casks for 3-5 years, allowing it to develop complexity.
This wine presents a dark brick ruby red colour. The bouquet is ethereal and intense, with aromas of ripe black fruits such as plums, cherries, and blackberries, complemented by hints of dried fig, cocoa, and baking spices. On the palate, it is intense and velvety, with a rich, full-bodied profile and a well-balanced acidity that ensures a lingering finish.
This Amarone pairs excellently with roasted meats, game, and aged cheeses. Decant for about an hour before consumption and serve at 18-19°C.
