Mas La Mola Vi D'Altura Priorat 2021

Produced in the Priorat DOQ, one of Spain's most renowned wine regions located in Catalonia, Mas La Mola Vi D'Altura showcases the unique terroir of the Poboleda district. The vineyards are planted on steep slopes with iconic llicorella slate soils, known for their ability to retain heat and impart a distinct minerality to the wines. This region's Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and cooling influences from elevation, creates ideal conditions for cultivating Grenache (Garnacha) and other traditional varieties, resulting in powerful and complex wines​.

The wine is a blend of 80% Garnacha Negra and 20% Garnacha Peluda. Garnacha Negra contributes ripe fruit intensity, while Garnacha Peluda adds softer textures and freshness. This blend reflects Priorat's bold style, with layers of ripe fruit, minerality, and spice​. The grapes are hand-harvested from low-yielding, old vines. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by ageing for 12 months in French oak barrels, with a portion of new oak used to enhance depth and complexity.
