This Pinot Noir comes from the Awatere sub-region of Marlborough, New Zealand, located at the top of the South Island. Marlborough's cool maritime climate, paired with free-draining alluvial soils and long growing seasons, makes it ideal for crafting vibrant, high-acidity wines. The region's strong diurnal temperature variation—warm days and cool nights—helps develop complex flavours.

This is a 100% Pinot Noir wine crafted in a cool-climate style, highlighting the varietal's bright fruit and delicate texture. The Gaia Project line reflects Mission Estate's commitment to sustainability, producing wines with vibrant, fruit-forward profiles while focusing on environmental responsibility.

The grapes are lightly crushed and cold-soaked before fermentation to extract colour and texture. Fermentation occurs at warm temperatures, with daily mixing to enhance complexity. The wine is then matured for 12 months in French oak barrels, allowing for a subtle integration of oak while preserving the varietal's bright, fruit-driven character.

The wine offers aromas of juicy cherry, red berries, and delicate savoury notes with a touch of herbal complexity. On the palate, it is vibrant and expressive, with fine tannins and a smooth, balanced texture. Notes of cedar and earth add depth to the fruity core, finishing elegantly.

This Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with roasted duck, grilled salmon, or mushroom-based dishes. It also complements lighter fare like herb-crusted chicken or fresh salads.
