Domaine De Montine Crozes Hermitage 2020-2022
Crozes-Hermitage is the largest appellation in the Northern Rhône Valley, located on the left bank of the Rhône River. Known for its Syrah-based red wines, the region benefits from a continental climate and diverse terroirs, including granite soils and alluvial deposits. The area produces expressive wines with a balance of structure and finesse.
This wine is made primarily from Syrah, the signature grape of the Northern Rhône. Domaine De Montine's Crozes-Hermitage showcases a structured and smooth style, typical of the appellation. It is characterised by a full-bodied profile and a rich, elegant expression.
The Syrah grapes are grown on granitic soils and are meticulously cultivated by Domaine De Montine, a family-run estate spanning four generations. The wine undergoes traditional vinification, with ageing for 12 months in French oak barrels. The use of oak enhances the complexity and imparts a touch of spice and structure.
This wine presents a deep ruby colour with a bouquet of dark fruits such as blackberry and plum, complemented by floral notes and hints of peppery spice. On the palate, it is well-balanced, with refined tannins, a medium to full body, and a long finish.
It pairs wonderfully with grilled meats, roast lamb, duck confit, and hearty stews. It also complements dishes with earthy components, such as mushroom risotto or aged cheeses.
