Domaine De Montorge Montagny 1er Cru Cuvee Des Quatre Clochers 2022
Domaine De Montorge Montagny Premier Cru wine hails from the Cote Chalonnaise in Burgundy, France, specifically the Montagny appellation. The area is known for its exclusive focus on white wines, primarily from Chardonnay. The vines are planted across four villages: Buxy, Montagny-les-Buxy, Jully-les-Buxy, and Saint-Vallerin. This region is renowned for its limestone-rich soils, which impart distinctive minerality to the wines. Crafted entirely from Chardonnay grapes, this premier cru wine showcases a fresh and elegant style typical of the region. It embodies the essence of Burgundy's white wines, with a focus on purity and terroir expression.
Grapes are pressed gently using a pneumatic press to avoid oxidation. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, followed by full malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged for 10-12 months in vats, which enhances its finesse and preserves its fresh, fruity profile. Depending on the vintage, it may also be aged on its lees to add complexity.
The wine opens with enticing aromas of peaches and white flowers. On the palate, these fruity and floral notes are mirrored, offering a clean and vibrant entry. Its light golden hue and delectable, long finish make it an inviting choice for many occasions.
This Montagny 1er Cru is ideal as an aperitif and pairs beautifully with seafood, grilled fish, and creamy pasta dishes. Its bright and fresh character also complements dishes like salmon lasagne, shellfish platters, and poached white fish. Best served at 12°C, this wine is enjoyable young for its lively freshness but can be cellared for 4-5 years to develop greater depth and complexity
