The Nicola Catena Parcela Bonarda originates from Mendoza, Argentina, specifically the La Vendimia and El Mirador vineyards situated at 750 metres above sea level. Mendoza is renowned for its high-altitude vineyards, which provide optimal conditions for grape cultivation, with warm days and cool nights contributing to the development of balanced and expressive wines.

This wine is crafted from 100% Bonarda, a grape variety that Italian immigrants introduced to Argentina in the late 19th century. By the 1990s, Bonarda became one of the most cultivated grapes in the country. The 2019 vintage showcases a rich and intense style, highlighting the depth and complexity that Bonarda can achieve in Mendoza's terroir.

The winemaking process begins with a cold maceration in barrels for four days to extract colour and aroma. Fermentation follows, using native yeasts, with controlled temperatures, for over 15 days. The wine is then aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, enhancing its structure and imparting subtle oak characteristics.

On the nose, the wine exhibits intense aromas of liquorice and dried herbs, indicative of its varietal character and oak ageing. The palate is unctuous and full-bodied, delivering concentrated flavours of dark fruits, complemented by complex herbal notes. The finish is long and lingering, supported by finely grained tannins that provide structure and elegance.

This wine pairs exceptionally well with beef and venison, grilled meats, hearty stews, and aged cheeses.
