Pannier Vintage Brut Champagne 2015
The Pannier Vintage Brut Champagne 2015 hails from the esteemed Champagne region in northeastern France, an area celebrated for its centuries-old tradition of producing exceptional sparkling wines. The region's unique chalky soils and cool climate contribute to the distinctive minerality and freshness characteristic of its champagnes.
This vintage champagne is a harmonious blend of 40% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir, and 20% Pinot Meunier. The Chardonnay imparts elegance and citrus notes, Pinot Noir adds structure and red fruit nuances, while Pinot Meunier contributes roundness and depth. As a Brut, it maintains a dry profile with balanced acidity, embodying the classic style of the region.
The 2015 vintage underwent meticulous vinification, beginning with a careful selection of grapes from the year's harvest. Following traditional methods, the wine underwent primary fermentation, blending, and secondary fermentation in the bottle to develop its fine bubbles. It was then aged for a minimum of three years in the cellars, allowing it to develop complexity and depth before release.
In the glass, this champagne displays a bright light gold colour with green reflections, accompanied by fine, persistent bubbles. The nose reveals a delicate bouquet of citrus fruits, including lemon zest, alongside fresh apricots and yellow peaches, offering a light and fresh aromatic profile. On the palate, it impresses with a full-bodied, creamy texture, complemented by hints of citrus and fresh butter. The finish is notably persistent and complex, showcasing a well-balanced harmony of flavours.
This champagne pairs excellently with seafood such as crab and shrimp, as well as fish and poultry dishes. Its balanced acidity and creamy texture also make it a delightful companion to mild and soft cheeses.
