Protos Roble is crafted in the Ribera del Duero region of Spain, a renowned area for its premium red wines made primarily from Tempranillo, locally called Tinta del País. The vineyards, located in Burgos and Valladolid, are planted at altitudes near 900 metres, benefiting from a continental climate with hot summers and cold winters. This terroir contributes to the wine's vibrant acidity, concentrated fruit, and balanced structure.
This wine is made from 100% Tempranillo, showcasing the variety's hallmark intensity and elegance. Aged for 6 months in French and American oak barrels, followed by 6 months in bottle, it represents a youthful yet polished style, with smooth tannins and bright fruit.
The grapes are manually harvested and sorted to ensure only the best fruit is used. After a cold skin-contact maceration, fermentation occurs in stainless steel vats under controlled temperatures to preserve the varietal character. The oak aging imparts subtle complexity, balancing the freshness of the fruit.
Bright cherry red with purple rims, the wine offers a frank and intense nose of red (raspberry) and black (blackberry, blueberry) fruits, complemented by hints of spice and light toasted oak. On the palate, it is fresh and fruity, with a good structure, soft tannins, and a pleasant balance between sweet oak and vibrant acidity. The finish is smooth and approachable.
Protos Roble pairs beautifully with tomato-based dishes, such as pasta pomodoro, puttanesca, or stuffed eggplant. It also complements cured meats like chistorra and salami, as well as medium-aged cheeses. Serve slightly chilled at 15-16°C.
