Quinta Dos Carvalhais Branco Especial
Produced in the Dão region of Portugal, Quinta dos Carvalhais Branco Especial represents the excellence of Portuguese white wines. The Dão region is celebrated for its high-altitude vineyards, temperate climate, and granite-based soils, which create ideal conditions for crafting elegant and age-worthy wines. This particular wine reflects the estate's commitment to tradition, showcasing the region's capacity to produce complex wines.
The Branco Especial is a non-vintage blend of multiple harvests, with a predominant focus on Encruzado, Gouveio, and Sémillon, alongside other indigenous varieties. Aged for an average of 7–10 years in oak barrels, the wine combines richness and freshness, exemplifying the structured and full-bodied style.
The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented using traditional techniques. Barrel aging imparts layers of complexity, including tertiary aromas and oak nuances. By blending wines from different vintages, the Branco Especial achieves a harmonious balance of youthful vibrancy and aged refinement.
This wine has a brilliant golden colour. The nose is intensely aromatic, featuring notes of truffles, honey, dried fruits, and resinous and balsamic nuances. On the palate, it is dense and full-bodied, with lively acidity that balances the richness of oak and tertiary flavours. Its finish is fresh, elegant, and persistent.
Quinta dos Carvalhais Branco Especial pairs wonderfully with roasted fish, well-seasoned cod, red meats like roast goat, and mushroom risotto. It also complements creamy seafood dishes. Serve at 12-14ºC.
