Quinta dos Carvalhais Touriga Nacional 2020 originates from the Dão region in Portugal, an area renowned for its elegant and characterful wines. The region's granite-rich soils and temperate climate provide ideal conditions for cultivating the Touriga Nacional grape, Portugal's most esteemed red variety.

This wine is crafted exclusively from Touriga Nacional, celebrated for producing deeply coloured, aromatic, and structured wines. The 2020 vintage showcases the grape's typical floral notes, particularly violet, combined with ripe red and black fruit characteristics.

The grapes were hand-harvested and underwent meticulous selection upon arrival at the winery. Fermentation occurred in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, followed by a post-fermentation maceration to enhance colour and tannin extraction. The wine was then aged for 12 months in new French oak barrels, contributing to its complexity and ageing potential.

This wine presents a deep ruby-red colour. The nose is generous, with intense aromas of ripe red and black fruits, complemented by floral notes of violet and subtle herbal nuances. Hints of warm spices and well-integrated oak add to its aromatic complexity. On the palate, it offers freshness with fine acidity, well-rounded yet lively tannins, culminating in a well-balanced and elegant finish.

It pairs excellently with meat dishes, game, and various types of buttery cheeses. Decant and let it breathe for an hour. Serving temperature 16-18ºC.
