Rosa Ruiz Albarino 2023
Rosa Ruiz Albariño is crafted in the Rías Baixas region of Galicia, Spain, specifically in the O Rosal subzone. This coastal area is renowned for its cool, Atlantic-influenced climate, which produces vibrant, mineral-driven wines. The vineyards are planted on trellises, typical for Albariño in the region, and benefit from granite-rich soils, imparting a saline edge to the wines.
This wine is made from 100% Albariño, showcasing the variety's hallmark characteristics of aromatic intensity, lively acidity, and elegant structure. The old vines, aged between 25-40 years, produce low yields of highly concentrated fruit, ensuring a premium wine with depth and character.
The grapes are hand-harvested in small crates, ensuring the integrity of the fruit. A meticulous double-selection process precedes pre-fermentation cold maceration with dry ice for 12 hours. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperatures, followed by 5–7 months of lees aging. This process enhances the wine's texture, complexity, and aromatic profile.
Rosa Ruiz Albariño 2023 is bright yellow with greenish reflections. The nose bursts with aromas of ripe apple, peach, and melon, accented by citrus notes, orange peel, and white flowers. On the palate, it is full-bodied, elegant, and well-balanced, with refreshing acidity, a hint of saline minerality, and a persistent finish.
This wine pairs beautifully with shellfish, seafood, and fish dishes. It also complements savoury puff pastries, pâtés, and light poultry dishes. Serve chilled at 10–11°C.
