Hailing from the Salento region in Puglia, southern Italy, this wine is crafted from Negroamaro, a grape that thrives in the Mediterranean climate characterised by hot, dry summers and mild winters. The region's soils are a mix of clay and limestone, providing ideal drainage and imparting distinctive minerality to the wines.
This is a 100% Negroamaro wine, showcasing the variety's hallmark characteristics of ripe red and black fruit combined with a touch of spice. Known for its full-bodied and structured style, Negroamaro also provides a smooth texture and well-balanced tannins, making it approachable yet layered.
The grapes are harvested manually in September when they reach optimal ripeness. Fermentation occurs under temperature-controlled conditions to preserve the fruit's intensity, followed by aging in a combination of steel tanks and oak casks, which adds complexity and subtle oak influences.
This wine has a deep ruby red colour with black-purple highlights. The nose is intense and persistent, with aromas of blackcurrants, berries, and delicate herbal notes such as thyme. On the palate, it is velvety and harmonious, offering layers of ripe dark fruit, spice, and a hint of oak, with a long, savoury finish.
Ideal with elaborate first courses, such as pasta with hearty sauces, or grilled and stewed meats. It also pairs beautifully with aged cheeses and Mediterranean dishes that are rich and flavourful. Serving temperature 18°C.
