This wine originates from Manduria, located in the Puglia region of southern Italy. Known as the homeland of Primitivo, this area benefits from a warm Mediterranean climate, with cooling sea breezes that balance ripeness with acidity. The fertile soils of the region allow Primitivo grapes to develop intense flavours.
Made with 100% Primitivo, this wine showcases the bold and robust character typical of the varietal. It is known for its rich and intense style, with high alcohol content and deeply concentrated flavours, making it a hallmark of southern Italian red wines.
The grapes are harvested at peak ripeness and vinified in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness. The wine is then aged in large oak casks, which impart soft oak nuances while maintaining the primary fruit profile. This process allows for the development of its complex aromatic and structural characteristics.
This Primitivo displays a vivid red colour with purple highlights. On the nose, it offers a bouquet of plums, black cherries, and liquorice, accompanied by hints of spices. The palate is full-bodied and warm, with a smooth, rounded texture and a long, persistent finish. Subtle oak notes complement the ripe fruit flavours, enhancing its depth.
This wine pairs beautifully with savoury dishes and spicy recipes, including blue cheeses, sweet and sour game dishes, and even dark chocolate desserts. It also complements hearty meats like beef and venison. Serving temperature 18°C.
