Zédé de Labégorce 2020 is the second wine of Château Labégorce, a historic estate in the Margaux appellation on Bordeaux's Left Bank, with its history dating back to the 14th century. The Margaux terroir, characterised by its deep gravel and sandy loam soils, imparts a distinctive finesse to its wines.

This wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The Cabernet Sauvignon contributes power and structure, while the Merlot adds richness and body. The 2020 vintage underwent traditional vinification in concrete vats, followed by ageing for 12 to 15 months in oak barrels, with a portion of new oak to add further complexity. Fining with egg whites was employed to refine the wine's texture.

In the glass, the wine presents a deep, inviting ruby red hue with garnet reflections. The nose reveals a captivating bouquet of blackcurrant, blueberry, and raspberry, complemented by hints of sweet spice such as cinnamon and clove, along with subtle floral nuances. On the palate, it offers a delightful balance of richness and elegance, with a medium-bodied structure delivering a smooth and rounded mouthfeel. Well-integrated tannins provide a pleasant grip on the finish, with flavours of dark fruits, cedar, and savoury spice persisting.

This red wine pairs well with grilled or roasted red meats like lamb chops, ribeye steak, or venison, as well as well-seasoned white meats such as roast chicken with rosemary or herb-crusted pork tenderloin. For cheese pairings, consider semi-firm and mature cheeses like Comté, Gruyère, or aged Gouda.
