Chateauneuf-du-Pape, situated in the southern Rhone Valley, is one of France's most prestigious wine regions. Known for its Mediterranean climate with strong Mistral winds and minimal rainfall, the area produces bold and complex wines. The terroir is unique, characterised by stony soils, sandy ochre, and pebbly terraces, which contribute to the wine's richness and minerality. Domaine Lafond Roc Epine crafts wines that reflect the typicity of this iconic appellation, where Grenache dominates the blend.

This wine is a blend of Grenache (80%), Syrah (10%), and Mourvedre (10%) grapes, showcasing a traditional Chateauneuf-du-Pape style. Grenache provides a supple structure and ripe fruitiness, Syrah adds spice and colour, while Mourvedre contributes earthy complexity and tannic depth. The grapes, handpicked and carefully sorted, undergo a long fermentation of 21 days to extract optimal tannins and flavours. The Grenache is aged in stainless steel tanks to preserve its fruit-forward character, while the Syrah and Mourvedre mature in oak barrels, split evenly between strong and lighter toasting. This combination adds layers of complexity, with subtle vanilla and spice nuances.

This Chateauneuf-du-Pape exhibits a deep ruby hue with purple highlights. The nose is complex, offering aromas of cinnamon, cooked fruits, and morello cherry. On the palate, it delivers a bold, rich, and persistent flavours of vanilla, pepper, and ripe red fruits. Supple tannins and a well-rounded structure lead to a long, satisfying finish, making it a classic expression of the appellation.
